The
Kangleiwordnet is a web interface to a collection of 5 wordnets, viz. Manipuri Wordnet, Tangkhul Wordnet, Thadou Wordnet, Mao Wordnet and Kabui/Rongmei Wordnet.
A
Wordnet is a lexical database of words of a language that are linked together by their semantic relationships.
It is a product of the
Manipur Wordnet project taken up at
IIIT Manipur under
Core Research Grant(CRG) of
SERB, Government of India.
The project covers 5 major local languages of Manipur namely
Manipuri/Meeteilon,
Tangkhul,
Thadou,
Mao and
Rongmei/Kabui.
Kangleiwordnet strife to bridge the lingusitic gap between several communities of Manipur, and also to be linked to the national and global languages.
A huge repository of linguistic data are collected for each of these low-resource languages and molded into individual wordnets with rich semantic information as Manipuri Wordnet, Tangkhul Wordnet, Thadou Wordnet, Mao Wordnet and Kabui/Rongmei Wordnet.
These wordnets are linked with each other with
Manipuri/Meeteilon as the root language, and
English as a secondary bridge language, thus acting as a multilingual dictionary for the common users.
